John M. Green is author of The Tao Deception, The TrustedBorn to Run and Nowhere Man. His latest thriller, The Tao Deception, is his second novel featuring feisty, smart surfer and ex-spy Dr Tori Swyft. It is also the third book he has written that features inspiring US President Isabel Diaz.

Growing up in Darlinghurst, John spent his childhood roaming the back alleys of Sydney’s Kings Cross and rubbing shoulders with prostitutes, drug dealers and witches. Those early years were a golden experience, he says, for his later careers in law and investment banking. He left his day job as a banker two years before the global financial crisis (enough of a time gap so no one could accuse him of starting the whole mess!).

Since then, he's been straddling the worlds of story and business.

As well as writing page-turning thrillers, John co-founded Pantera Press, now the home of some of Australia’s finest new, emerging and prize-winning writing talents.

He also sits on the boards of the listed companies QBE Insurance Group (where he’s deputy chairman) and WorleyParsons. He is a director of the Centre for Independent Studies and was, until recently, a council member of the National Library of Australia.

John and his sculptor wife Jenny were recently given UNSW Alumni Achievement Awards for their contributions to business, the arts and philanthropy.
